Dhaka University postgraduate student Zareen Tahsin Anjum has been selected for the prestigious CERN Summer Student Programme 2025, marking a significant achievement for Bangladesh in international scientific research.
Anjum, a student of the university’s Department of Nuclear Engineering, was selected from a highly competitive pool of more than 10,000 applicants worldwide, with around 300 students chosen for the programme.
At CERN, one of the world’s leading particle physics research centres, she worked with the ATLAS experiment, one of the major detectors at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), a 27-kilometre particle accelerator located beneath the Switzerland-France border.
Her work was linked to the Tau Trigger Project, which focuses on research related to di-Higgs boson production.
Anjum graduated top of her undergraduate cohort with the highest CGPA and received the Dean’s Award in 2025. She is also actively involved in science communication.
Her achievement highlights the growing potential of Bangladeshi students to contribute to cutting-edge scientific research on the global stage.
